Born in Sicily in 1987,
after having dedicated many years to the world of the theatre, Davide directs his interest towards photography and begins to work in the fashion industry. In this often disorienting ambit of consumerism, he immediately identifies in the human body his expressive means: the nude.
The nude is declaration, intimacy, validation but also drama, sufferance and beauty. The body, exposed in its natural form, is captured by the voyeristic eye of the camera in order to reveal the conflictual aspects of its harmonious elements.
Every body, in fact, even in its apparent simplicity and softness, hides dramas and frailties that are hidden in public due to fear of judgement.
The photograph of the nude, therefore, transforms “beauty” into a means of transmitting a “superior” reality, which is detached - and suspended - as in a dream, and takes upon itself the responsibility of translating a state of being.
The black and white of the film underlines this mysterious and dreamlike dimension in which the nude, via a game of light and shadow, now contorts itself in pain to then fall asleep at a caress.
The attention to the pose is close to that of fashion photography, but its intent is contrary: the body here does not incarnate a product but seeks to snap the ego of the social pantomime, to affirm the fragility of existence that reveals itself in its singularity.
Nato in Sicilia nel 1987,
dopo aver dedicato molti anni al mondo del teatro, Davide indirizza il suo interesse verso lo strumento fotografico e inizia a lavorare nel mondo dell’alta moda. In quest’ambito di consumo, individua subito nel corpo il suo mezzo espressivo: il nudo è dichiarazione, intimità, legittimazione ma anche dramma, sofferenza e bellezza. Il corpo, esposto nella sua forma naturale, viene immortalato dall’occhio voyeuristico della fotocamera con l’intento di mostrare
i suoi lati di conflittualità e al contempo di armonia.
Ogni corpo nudo, infatti, pur nella sua apparente semplicità e morbidezza, cela drammi e fragilità che in pubblico vengono nascosti e censurati per paura o giudizio.
La sua fotografia, quindi, vuole trasformare il “bello” in uno strumento per veicolare una realtà “superiore”, distaccata e sospesa come in un sogno e si fa carico di uno stato d’animo da restituire.
Il bianco e nero sottolinea questa dimensione misteriosa e onirica in cui il nudo, attraverso un gioco di luce ed ombra, ora si contorce in dolore ora si addormenta in una carezza.
L’attenzione alla posa si accosta alle fotografie di moda, tuttavia l’intenzionalità è opposta: il corpo non incarna un prodotto ma vuole spezzare l’ego della pantomima sociale, vuole affermare la fragilità dell’esistenza che si mostra nella sua unicità.
